The 3 best treatments for your sun-damaged skin

Did summer leave you with dry, dull skin and some lovely sun spots that just keep getting worse summer after summer? Reagan and Nicea stopped by Utah Facial Plastics to discuss the best treatments for sun damaged skin.

Laser resurfacing can be done with their Fractional Co2 laser or Venus Viva and improves dull skin, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, scarring, and mild tightening. A fractional CO2 laser treatment is more invasive with longer recovery, but their Venus Viva gives the same results but requires a series of 3-6 treatments spaced one month apart. There is very little downtime with some redness that can be covered with makeup 24 hours after. Platelet-rich plasma can be added to enhance results and minimize downtime.

Their SkinCeutical chemical peels are medical grade and penetrate deep into the skin. They are performed to rid unwanted pigment from sun damage. The type of peel and how many layers will be determined by your provider. Chemical Peels work by increasing skin turnover to repair damaged skin resulting in reversal of facial aging. They have been around for such a long time because they are tried and true and totally work! There is no downtime or pain with light to medium chemical peels though you may experience some flaking days after the treatment. Chemical Peels are best done in a series.

Also known as a Fotofacial, IPL treatments are a very effective way to destroy pigment accumulated in the skin. Treatments are quick with no downtime but do require 3-6 treatments for full results. You may be red for a couple days and pigment may be darker initially but will slough off.
